Wedding Vows Said In Assembly of God Church

Miss Sherrial Lynn Lackey and Wilburn Thomas Busby united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at the Assembly of God Church on Saturday September 13. Rev. Robert Jones officiated with Mrs. Jones at the piano. The bride wore a white empire gown and carried white carnations with a white orchid while attendants wore light blue floor length dresses. A reception followed at the church and the couple departed for a wedding trip to Waco. the bride wore hot pink hopsack for travel.

Austin SS Office Closes Saturdays Beginning October 1

The Austin Social Security Office will not be open on Saturdays starting October 1. September 27 will be the last Saturday morning the office operates. After that date the office maintains weekday hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Mrs Billy Phillips of Corpus Christi visited for a week in Llano with her parents Mr and Mrs Reuben Oestreich and her mother in law Mrs Carl Phillips. She traveled from Arlington where she enrolled her daughter Pamela Kay in an interior decoration school.

JH 4 H Elects Officers for Year

The Junior High 4 H Club met at O Henry Junior High School library to elect officers for the year. Donna Capps was chosen president with Mary Grote as vice president Robin Dees secretary treasurer Victor Lang reporter and Jonie Jordan wound delegate. Leaders elected are Mrs Jae Banner and Mrs Lester Tha. The next meeting is set for Monday Oct 6 in the junior high library.

Llano County August Savings Bond sales totaled 3019 with year to date 60305 reaching 46 percent of the 1960 goal of 130000. Texas Freedom Shares August sales rose to 15376241, up 68 percent from 1968. Year to date Texas sales stood at 119638086 for 70 percent of the 1968 goal of 1701 million.

Frank Crain and Gary Hightower of Richland Springs spent Saturday night with Mr and Mrs Wilson Kuykendall then went to Austin on Sunday.

Air Force Commendation Medal to Kin of Buchanan Family

Sergeant Lloyd L. Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd B. Thomas, received the U S Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service cited for duty performance at Bien Hoa Air Base Vietnam. He was presented the medal at Mather Air Force Base California where he serves with an Air Training Command unit. The sergeant, whose wife Kathryn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Parker, is a 1965 graduate of Christopher University High School.

Kingsland Legion Seeks Members for Fall Dues

Kingsland Post and Auxiliary seek new members for the coming year with a deadline of October 20. The first unit and auxiliary to send in their quota will receive a Texas Department citation. A covered dish supper and games are set for Saturday September 28 at 2 PM.

Methodists Plan School Rally Day at Liattie Watkins Church

Liattie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church plans a Church School Rally Day and Christian Education Sunday with a 9 30 am opening program led by Doane Hoerster Gena Roberson and Mrs James Jones and music from youth and children. Church school starts at 9 50 am with a 10 50 am morning worship and dedication of Sunday School officers and teachers followed by a covered dish luncheon in the church basement.

Shorts Back From Vacation in the West

Mr and Mrs T A Shorts return from a six week Western trip visiting Seattle to see their son in law Melvin King a Seattle school band director. They toured Vancouver Brush Columbia and other sites and recommend Disneyland. They traveled in a new Air stream trailer house and were never rained on.

Church Rally Day Plans Highlight Open House Tour
