Grady St Clair has left Llano after visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. W. St. Clair and will teach at the Temple high school next year. Carl Runge and Mrs. W. S. Marschall and Cornelia Marschall arrived in Llano from Mason on Tuesday. Cornelia departed for Waco to teach there this year. Mr. Runge came down on legal business.
Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Olham from San Antonio stayed with their daughter Mrs. Vance Wallace. Dr. C. W. McCollum of Comanche visited Llano guests Walter Montgomery and wife. Quintin Martin will enter the University of Austin next year for his bachelor degree. Q. C. Walker of Sterling City was in Llano for business and hunting sheep for his ranch. The sheep market, like cattle, trends upward with strong prices.
Dr. Roy Townsend and his wife from Eastland arrived in Llano Saturday for a short visit with his parents Dr. and Mrs. Ed Townsend. They cut their stay to Monday because he could not leave his Eastland practice. Miss Ruth Rayburn enjoyed a weeklong vacation with Judge and Mrs. Cornell and returned to Llano Tuesday.
Mrs Tom Moore hosted a tan bridge party last Wednesday afternoon with autumn gold decorations. Mrs W B Lewis of Houston won high score and a bonbon pillow. Mrs Roger Simpson took consolation, Mrs John L Watkins cut for a wall plaque.
Mrs M M Moss hosted a Thursday bridge event with many guests. Tables lined spacious rooms adorned with Queen's Crown decor, pink color theme echoed in vases and wall pockets. High scores went to J Ray Moss and A H Bruhl. Miss Mary Nash Buttery took the cut prize.
Stephensville, Lewis and Harrison of Houston are joined by Mary Nash Buttery Anice and Ethel Jenkins Kathryn Atk ins Lucille Brown in a community notice listing participants and organizers for an upcoming local event.
A Saturday bridge gathering hosted by Misses Mary Nash Buttery and Kathryn Atkins at Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Buttery’s residence featured seven tables and summer blossoms. Trophies for high score consolation and lucky cut went to Mrs. Townsend Miss Anice Jenkins and Mrs. Orr, followed by a salad course served by the hostesses with assistance from Miss Emily Dalrymple.
W Mueller of Castell was in the city yesterday on business. Conditions were reported as good, though some areas showed worse conditions. A Z Wallace arrived in Llano Mo and has been visiting relatives and friends. He left yesterday for Loyal Valley to run a gas station and confectionery business.
Arch Deacon B F McKenzie will hold services at Grace Church next Sunday at 11 am and 7 pm The evening topic is The Church and Education The public is invited to attend these services.
Wilbur C. Treadwell, optometrist and optician, will be in his Llano office Saturday September 26 for eye exams and glasses fittings. Miss Frankie Townsend of Dallas arrived Sunday to visit her aunt Mrs. J H Cater for about two weeks.
