Democrats Endorse South and Sheppard at County Convention
At the Laiano County Democratic Convention in the courthouse on Tuesday afternoon delegates voiced wholehearted support for the Roosevelt administration and for Rep. Charles L. South and Sen. Morris Sheppard. The platform backed Roosevelt and urged delegates to back Franklin D. Roosevelt and John N. Garner in November. Resolutions praised South for his service and loyalty to the district and endorsed Sheppard for continued leadership in Congress. The meeting elected permanent officers and named delegates and alternates to the state convention, with organized committees on platform, credentials, and permanent organization.

Opening of the season brings LLano County regulations for anglers. It is illegal to sell fish taken in the county or use devices with more than two hooks. Minnows for bait require a twenty foot seine. artificial lures with rod and reel are allowed. Size limits apply to catfish crappie bass and perch with weekly and daily bag limits. Artificial lure licenses cost 1.10 for residents. non residents pay 6 or a five day 1.10 license. Minnow stocks are limited to 500 and transport out of county is prohibited.

Trading was slow in early cattle rounds but prices held steady with light receipts of 204 cattle and 363 calves. Calves sold mainly 6.25 to 6.75, with fat cows up to 5.25 and hogs active at 9.10 top for 175 to 250 pounds, receipts from 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Llano Volunteer Fire company No. 1 charter adopted December 18 1906 details early firefighting by north side businessmen. By laws set rigid discipline with fines and a five dollar initiation fee, while the first to reach the hose house ran the pipe and a 50 year charter had 20 years remaining.

H H Tot Galloway a Llano high school graduate of 1921 died of pneumonia at his Longview home Monday morning. He was about 44. He had worked as a bank cashier in Houston and lived in Marble Falls before moving. Funeral services were held at Longview Tuesday afternoon. He is survived by his wife Lucille Yet Galloway a son two parents three sisters and two brothers.

Ford Street Paved From River to South City Limits
The paving of Ford Street from the river to the south city limits was completed this week as part of the Highway 81 project. The three course treatment took two days and was done by the state highway department at no cost to the city under an agreement. Curbing will be left to property owners.

Young Man Found Dead on North Side
Toy Bourland son of Mrs Lena Bourland was found in a dying condition on the north side of the river shortly after 4 pm Sunday. Anemic poisoning was believed. Funeral services were held at Valley Spring at 3 pm Monday with William Talley officiating. Bourland was born March 18, 1909 and had been a lifelong resident, survived by his mother and two brothers Fay and Lee.

Llano residents voted 149 to 74 to abolish the municipal band tax while 210 to 12 supported the fire department tax. A 228 voter turnout saw unofficial results and the council will canvass Monday to set effective dates and a 10 cent per $100 value levy authority for the volunteer fire department.

The Rev. Charles Nixon, Llano district elder, was informed Sunday morning that his daughter Olivia Nixon had been rushed to Central Clinic in San Antonio for an acute appendicitis. The operation occurred an hour after arrival. Olivia is a student at West Moorland College. The father drove to San Antonio and returned Monday reporting her condition satisfactory.

Drunken Driving and Assault Charges Fill Weekend Jail
A San Antonio man jailed after an automobile accident at a temporary low water bridge was released on $250 bond pending grand jury action for driving while intoxicated. Two men and two women pled guilty to drunkenness and vagrancy with fines totaling $12 to $16. A 16 year old admitted stealing from a drunken man and a separate aggravated assault charge followed a struggle with officers during an arrest for drunkenness. Bond for the assault charge was set at $200.
