The Llano Fire Department reorganized at a hotel gathering with new officers elected for 1920 and many members listed. The event followed a long game between Allano and Kerrville, with detailed baseball stats and a later town census note predicting growth for Llano in 1930.
A high school auditorium crowd filled all seats and walls as the Woman's Culture Club staged the Zander Gump Wedding play. About twenty five to thirty volunteers acted with only three rehearsals, netting around five hundred dollars for the club's community house project in Liano.
Randolph Urset of Cherokee, a John Tarleton College student, is named among five honor students for the six week period ending year’s end. He achieved straight A records and maintained top marks in the term, reflecting continued academic excellence at the institution.
Valley Spring presents The Adventures of Grandpa a three act comedy by an all high school cast Saturday night May 10 with music by the Valley Spring String Band full evening of entertainment. details to follow in a later issue urging attendance.
Local memorial manufacturers and quarriers form committees to host the Memorial Craftsmen of Texas convention in Llano on June 9 to 11. Banquet Finance and Arrangement panels set by Linden Foster C R Stolz T Hill O F Barnett Newel Smith H C Roth M C Wilkes L H Baldwin. Officials expect larger attendance due to timing and growing interest with visitors from the north and east and National Memorial Craftsmen officers planning activities.
Llano gains a steam laundry in full operation with workers busy daily. Mrs. Senheider reports smooth startup and better than expected performance as machinery is calibrated. The home enterprise invites local support to make it the best in Central Texas.
Mrs Nancy Caroline Wilson longtime Limo resident and devout church member died Sunday at 9 80 am after four years of illness. Born near Goliad Texas in 1866 she married R B L Wilson in 1888 and had four children plus a son in law and daughter in law. Survived by a brother three grandchildren and the husband’s death in 1915 the family mourns in a Presbyterian service led by Rev Wesley Prince at the local church followed by burial beside her husband with a large funeral procession and community respect.
The 1930 Llano Chamber of Commerce banquet drew a large crowd from Llano and nearby towns at the Hotel Idano. Speakers included Crady Faubion, Roscoe Runge, Judge D. W. Wilcox, Judge Dean, and Carl A. Blasig. music by the Llano Orchestra and performances by Miss Smith and the Laning duo earned hearty applause. The event was praised as one of the town’s most successful entertainments in years.
Wednesday featured school closing activities at Castell with the main commencement events scheduled for today. A large crowd is expected to attend the public program this afternoon and evening as diplomas are awarded.
Many from Llano and county areas attended the Prairie Mountain event last Saturday for the school closing exercises and a barbecue. Attendees praised the entertaining school play and the plentiful food, noting Prairie Mountain’s tradition of hosting public gatherings with large crowds.
Rev Charies A Chasteen and his wife from Dallas arrive Friday for weekend visits and will preach at 7 45 Sunday evening at the Llano Christian Church. Special music will be rendered at both services and an urgent invitation is extended to all attendees. They will stay with Mr and Mrs Julius Bleuholm.
Signaling traffic at Main Street crossing Bridge Street, a key junction in Lland, with stop systems for vehicles approaching the intersection from either direction. Bridge Street remains without signals for now, as one way regulations are expected to suffice. Marshal Foster urged observance, citing safety and growing traffic in Ljano.
The Hutchison High School baccalaureate sermon will be delivered Sunday May 4. Commencement exercises will follow in the coming week. The service invites all to attend.
The Woman's Culture Club will observe Federation Day on Saturday May 10 at 4 00 p.m. at Mrs Franklin Buttery home. This is the last meeting before the fall vacation as the club completes its study year. Members urged to attend. Mrs Clyde Beard and Miss Mary Lee Chesnut of Dallas are visiting Llano.
The May term of District Court for Jane county convenes May 12 with grand and petit juries listed. Grand Jury reports May 12 at 9:00 in UL courtroom. names include Herbert Tate and J. P. Nixon. First week petit jury reports May 13 at 9:00 with a long roster led by Kk. J. Davee and Albert Irenwelge. Second week petit jury reports May 19 at 9:00 with numerous members including Logan Templeton and Leo Lewis.
Two murder cases from Mason and San Saba counties are to be tried at Llano's May term court. The Mason case concerns Offila Herrera accused of killing Sheriff A T Murray in 1929, previously tried with death penalty reversed on indictment flaws. The San Saba case involves Edmondson, who after multiple reversals faces a new Llano trial. The docket also notes Ellison murder charge pending, with bail irregularities, likely extending court into a third week.
