LCRA Faces Fuel Shortages Across 41 County Area
LCRA relies mainly on thermal plants at New Braunfels and Bastrop for power in the 41 county region and uses hydro plants for under eight percent. Since last November gas deliveries to LCRA Austin and San Antonio customers have been cut back up to 100 percent at times. When gas is unavailable LCRA burns fuel oil or cuts plants, mirroring a Texas-wide shortage. Residents urged to voluntarily reduce electricity use to prevent brown outs.
