Site Chosen For Llano County Hospital Block

John Winn Scott and the Llano County Commissioners Court met with the city council to compare nine proposed hospital sites. Three remained, with the Miller block owned by Mrs. Orville Buttery chosen at 7000 dollars, near Wright Berry Ollie and Lampasas Streets, close to the courthouse square and Highway 26.

Sears Gilts Given To 8 4-H Club Boys

Sears Foundation gilts distributed to Llano county 4 H boys. The boys will care for the gilts through September when a show awards cash prizes. In November the gilts will be bred for a heavy litter contest with the heaviest litter winning first. Swimming Lessons Start Monday at Llano Pool

The city announces swimming lessons at the Municipal Swimming pool starting Monday morning. Registration is at the Utilities office or at 8:30 at the pool, with beginners lessons at 8:45. Classes available for adults, both beginner and advanced.

Blufffton Tow Road Project Advances with Structures

Completion reports indicate loading of base and top surfacing will begin soon on the Blufffton Tow road. Grading on Castell Loyal Valley farm-to-market road is done with base being laid and paving planned. A July letting may award a contract for 2.5 miles of Round Mountain road toward Johnson City from State Highway 71.

The Liano Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 216 held an open installation at the Masonic Hall for 1956 57 officers. Mrs Maeton Freel was installed as worthy matron and Mr Maeton Freel as worthy patron. Monroe Raesener performed a musical number before a social hour. Wolf Trapper Finishes Llano County Assignment

Herman Waits, a wolf trapper with the Extension Service, completed his two month assignment in Llano County and will return to Red Rock in Bastrop County then await his next post in Wharton County. He reports 11 wolves killed in Llano during the period and notes wolves are scarce locally unless game migrates in.

Weather winds and rain mark May 30 readings

May 30 weather logged high winds and .86 inches of rain. Farmers faced poor conditions though ranchers, and Centennial visitors, found it pleasant overall.

Four Llano county 4-H members and leaders travel to College Station for the State 4-H Roundup. Adm H H McLean resigns as co ordinator of Civil Defense and Disaster Relief in Llane county. Ground Observer posts have been set at Buchan an Dam Tow Valley Ageings and Castell. The city of Llane will likely activate a post under Raymond Cogburn with Michael Peerick assigned to continue establishment and maintenance.

Ann Hasse Crowned Llano County Centennial Queen

Miss Virginia Ann Hasse was crowned Queen of the Llano County Centennial at a stadium ceremony before a pageant. She will reign over the centennial festivities with princesses Patsyn Rogers Arlene Leifeste Georgia Ann Hoffman and Sally Hardin. Prizes included 100 for the queen and 25 for each princess along with a gold charm inscribed Queen or Princess Llano County Centennial.

First Annual Scholarship Award Presented to James Shirley

James Shirley, son of Clyde and Mrs Shirley, received the first annual scholarship funded by the Woman's Culture Club and local donors. He and twin Ronald Clyde plan UT Austin attendance in September after February entrance exams. James scored 119. The award totals 160 dollars for two semesters at 75 dollars each, determined by faculty and trustees based on need and merit.

Yarborough Breakfast Draws 40 in Three-County Gathering

Local feed firm earns mixing accuracy certificate

Llano Food and Supply of Llano Texas has been issued a Certificate of Mixing Accuracy by Purina of St Louis Missouri. Young Boy Hurt in State Highway 71 Crash

Six year old Howard Wayne Duffner sustained two broken arms and facial and back injuries after a two car collision on State Highway 71 twelve miles east of Slino Monday afternoon. The other occupants escaped serious harm. Duffner was hospitalized in Burnet. Deputy Maicolman Wo Yeary investigated.

Centennial Parade Winners Named in Lime

The Te Llano County Home Demonstration Council won first in the Georgantation floats during the Centennial Parade held in Lime Monday afternoon. Do Si-Do float placed second and the Lutheran Church third in the organization section. Mather's Dress Shop won first among commercial entries with Lone Star second and Wilkel's Food third. Fredericksburg led among out of town floats with Junction second and Brady third. John Dodgen served as parade committee chairman.
