Wesley Na deau and Wayne Maxey left San Antonio on Thursday December 28 for San Diego California to begin U S Navy recruit training. They will be granted leave to return home in about ten weeks according to Navy Recruiter Robert C Shotwell.
The Texas Department of Public Safety announced 72 vacancies for young men in uniformed services. Examinations will be held February 14 15 and 16 at various state locations. Applications finish February 10 1961.
The Hill Country Hereford Association plans its Ninth Annual Spring Bull Sale in Mason on Monday January 23 with 57 registered horned Hereford bulls. Judge Warren Stanton of Johnson City will preside at 9:00 a.m. and Walter Britten of College Station will auctioneer at 1:00 p.m. Catalogs available by writing Box 326 Mason Texas. Local visitors Billy Phillips family met Reuben Oestreich at Prairie Mountain.
Miss Ethel Sublett daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Sublett Frede ricksburg married Billy Bob Schneider son of Mr and Mrs Robert Schneider Prairie Mountain in a Sunday ceremony at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Rev Durkop and Rev Simon officiated with organist Mrs Lesle Hamann and vocalist Mrs L J Durkop. The couple announced a reception at Herman Sons Hall for about 300 guests.
The comedy Sur prise Package produced by Stan ny Donen plays at Lantex on Sunday. A big time gambler deported to his Greek island birthplace orders jewels but the package arrives as dancer Mitzi Gaynor leading to farcical events. Starring Yul Brynner Noel Coward Bill Magy Eric Pohlmann George Coulouris Man Mountain Dean Warren Mitchell and others.
A third Patrol formed with Ken Barnett reelected, Bill Sawyer and Tom Tate as leaders. Tate, new to office, showed active interest by joining a tree planting event, while Jonathan Allen supported MOD posters for Chairman Mrs Jake Clements. Cherley Phillips named Quartermaster and Fred Sylvester remains Troop Librarian. Twenty four Scouts attended the election with Dr Tel Hotchkiss and assistants Gibbs and Sylvester leading activities.
In Santa Fe New Mexico on January 7 the parents of the bride hosted a rehearsal supper at the home of Mr and Mrs Kenneth Sublett. About 27 guests attended the turkey supper.
