Quail Turnover Warned By Texas Biologist
Texas Game and Fish Commission officials warn quail numbers are high now but cold weather will reduce supplies for wildlife. Biologist notes populations may swing next spring and rat control and food cover affect survival. Duck goose and quail seasons extend two weeks with waterfowl closing January 14 and quail January 16.

The Southwestern States Telephone Company announced a 1959 expansion and improvement program costing more than $6 million to serve Texas Arkansas Oklahoma and Louisiana. General manager D T Strickland said 86 percent of phones are dial today and 90 percent expected by end of 1959.
