The First Baptist Church of Kingsland hosts a Lay Renewal Weekend from Friday to Sunday inviting all to attend. The event features testimonial sharing gospel singing and meals with attendees from across the area.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Meischen of Kingsland announce the engagement of their daughter Sheila Gayle Meischen to Robert Ben Blossman son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mossman of Llano. Sheila a 1970 graduate of Llano High and SWTSU attendee. Blossman a 1976 SWTSU graduate and United States Secret Service employee. They plan a June 28 wedding at First Baptist Church in Kingsland.
Lone Grove residents note visiting relatives in Dallas Waco and Florence. Families report car wreck injuries, with kin traveling to support the injured. Weekend visits include Redick Reager Johnson Anderson and Stewart family members across several towns.
Mrs. Roy Rebad Wolfe, 55, died February 14 in Little Rock Arkansas at Lite Rock Hospital. Funeral services were held in Little Rock with burial at Greenbriar Cemetery. Born April 1922 in Artesia Wells Texas she was sister of Odas Ontarian of Dano and survived by husband Ray Wolfe two sons one daughter and six brothers.
KBAL Valentines contest ends February 4 with Jewel Man sun drawn at Jim's Jewelry. winner Ms. Mangum receives a diamond pendant. Three weeks of entries were collected from shoppers at Jim's Jewelry, Loma's, Mette Norman Cosmetics and other participating stores.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Mano Volunteer Fire Department met Tuesday February 8 at the fire hall. President Betty Talley led the session with Kathy Talley visiting to speak for the school cosmetology department. Committees for the coming year were announced. ten members attended and one guest Ms Judy Landers was present.
Mr and Mel Lee Roy Strayhorn and Carel visited Kenedy last weekend with their daughter and sister. The Dearing family and child ren joined them. On Sunday the entire family returned to San Antonio and enjoyed the Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Mickey Whitley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitley of Llano, was promoted to Lance Corporal on February 1. Major A J Kalimanos informed Whitley and his parents of the promotion citing his duty performance and personal conduct as factors.
NARFE Chapter 1A25 met at the American Legion Hall in Kingstand on February 9 with A B Gibson and Hal Burnett presenting. Desmond Tyler covered current income tax provisions and forms and reminded volunteers help will be available after the Feb 15 18 training, while urging contact with legislators on issues such as generic drugs probate laws and aging.
Llano Culture Club selects officers for 1977 78 at a Feb 14 meeting. New president is Mrs Ames J Haag Jr with a full slate including Martha McCurdy first vice president and Earl Edwards Jr second vice president. Other posts filled by local residents.
