Edmondson Geis life sentence in trial here on murder case

The Edmondson murder case, moved from San Saba, went to trial before Judge Browning. The jury found the defendant guilty as charged and sentenced him to life imprisonment in the penitentiary. Attending attorneys for state and defense were listed, with appeals possible to the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Goat horns measure three feet seven and one fourth inches

T C and A H Schohemmer visited the News office with a giant set of goat horns measuring three feet seven and one fourth inches from tip to tip. The animal, eight years old, was raised on the Sehorlesue ranch near town and was noted as unusually large. The horns are expected to attract attention in a local museum.

Mystery car at Smith Motor Company draws crowds

Billy Vann showcased a talking Durant automobile at Smith Motor Company over Friday Saturday and Monday causing a stir as spectators tried to locate a hidden mechanism. About five hundred people registered during the demonstrations and questions provoked immediate machine responses.

Death of Mrs J N Broyles in Llano Texas

Mrs J N Broyles died Friday November 30 at the home of her daughter Rev and Mrs Clem Hoover in San Saba after eleven weeks illness. Born October 23 1853 in Greenville Tennessee she moved to Texas at twenty two and influenced her husband’s conversion. Surviving children include H D Broyles San Antonio Mrs Clem Hoover San Saba Mrs J H Farnsworth McKinney J F Broyles Dallas Mrs A A Buchanan Dallas CG H Broyles Oklahoma City. Remains sent to Ponito toc for interment last Saturday with funeral by Rev E B Pierce. Local tributes extend from Llano and nearby counties.

Christmas Market for Turkeys Opens in Llano

The Llano turkey market opened Monday as Hill Produce Company runs full blast with hundreds of birds entering the plant. Prices: young toms twenty five cents, young hens twenty cents. demand lags behind supply with buyers slow to take the birds. Northern markets had earlier offered high prices, but seasonality and surplus reduced demand this year.

Nine Year Old Boy Slays Buck With Bird Shot

Aubry Medlock, nine, son of Jeff Medlock, killed a fine buck using a single shot from a 410 while out in the woods. He spotted the deer, fired with deliberate aim, and the heart was pierced by shot. He could not haul the meat home, so his father brought it in. The story highlights abundant deer in the region and widespread success among women and children.

Entertains With Bridge Club At The Buttery Home

Mrs Henry Buttery hosted the Thursday Bridge Club in an attractive living room decorated with autumn leaves. Linden Foster won high score for members and Mrs Miles Buttery won high for guests receiving a corsage. W L D Jordan had good luck in the cut. Fur trade surges in Llano as buyers flock

Llano's fur market expands with several buyers active. Frank Kendrick of Standard Fur Co said since mid month he has purchased over three thousand furs, worth about six thousand dollars at two dollars each, signaling a strong early season.

The Shumcheon Club decided to stage a Christmas program in Liano on Saturday December 22. A tree will be provided and toys given to all attending children. Chas Miliger was named committee chairman to compile the program with Christmas music. Further notices will appear in the next issue after the committee completes its planning.

Junior Music Study Club Holds November Meeting

The Junior Music Study Club met November 14 with an engaging lesson and program. The next meeting is set for December 12 at 4 p m in the high school auditorium led by Ernestine Kowierschie. Piano solos featured include Faybette Atchison Edith Dalrymple Brownie Byfield and others as the group prepared for a concert patomise and silver elver caprica pieces.
