November 1938 in Llano County recorded unusually cold dry weather with only 0.5 inch rainfall by observer H C Roth and a sequence of freezing days ending with a 31 degree low. Total rainfall year to date 23.56 inches, boosted by July's 10.34 inches. December begins with dreary conditions. A December 22 road bond issue of 75,000 will be discussed at the Llano Boosters meeting.

Package Store Damaged By Blaze
A blaze in IJano's business district started in a domino parlor next to the package store run by Sam Simpson and was extinguished near midnight by volunteers. Insurance covers damage estimated at no less than $500. The fire scorched walls and damaged many liquor labels and stamps while domino patrons were closed for the night.

Youth, Aged 9, Slays Buck With .22 Rifle
Lynn Murray Ellis, a nine year old youth living with his grandmother in Click, shot an eight point buck with a .22 caliber rifle. He is the son of Estelle Masters of Liano and has earned full hunter privileges.

Premier Granite Quarries to Build New London Memorial
Tyler reports Premier Granite Quarries of Llanot won the New London Texas memorial contract for 294 students and teachers killed in the March 1937 explosion. The low bid was $16 751. Also noted are Llano holiday visitors from G I A and San Antonio University.

Mrs. Annie Agnes Bray Decker born February 28 1876 in Hamilton Texas died in Llano November 17. She married T W Decker July 3 1896 and lived in Valley Spring and Llano where he later ran painting and paper hanging. Survived by husband four children two grand children and three step sisters. Funeral by Rev Alan Lynch with interment at Llano Cemetery.

Lions Club Plans Christmas Carnival on Courthouse Lawn

A Boston bull terrier stood over its unconscious master after a highway crash near New Bluffton. Attorney Q C Taylor of Austin, likely with a fractured skull, was moved to San Antonio for treatment. The loyal dog, slightly hurt, kept guard as passersby found the scene.

Mrs. Dave S Leverett former Mary Jane Ricketson dies at 64 in Llano County after a prolonged illness. Born in Georgia on February 23 1874 she married Dave S Leverett August 10 1904 and leaves a son Elmer Leverett a Baptist parishioner with three stepchildren and two sisters. Funeral services were held Thanksgiving Day at the Baptist Church with Rev Joe Garrett officiating and interment in the city cemetery assisted by the Home Furniture Company. Pallbearers include Leverett Os bear Leverett Joe Leverett J E Tumlinson Allen Leverett and Lawrence Leverett.
