Llano Defeats Mason 7-2 In Sunday Baseball Clash

Llano built an easy 7 to 2 victory over Mason led by solid pitching from Draper and strong defense. The win keeps Llano atop the percentage standings with Fredericksburg in pursuit as both teams vie for first place with five games remaining in the season.

Llano County Tax Rate Sets at Sixty-Two Cents This Year

Llano County adopts a tax rate of sixty two cents for the year, up from last year by three cents. A one cent increase funds the jury and a two cent rise creates a new street improvement fund for court house area paving. Despite small bond uses the rate remains among the state’s lowest while roads and county needs are met.

State political speaker A. Camp will visit Llane Tuesday evening August 19 at 8 30 in the courthouse lawn to support Rosa Sterling for governor. Llano men press on bridge work with highway officials

Allan Newsom and R A Byfield traveled to Austin to deliver a resolution from the Commissioners Court and City Council. The state requested the county repair two small bridges and the city assist in limiting heavy loads. work on Flag Creek bridge is underway and cooperation for Tequeat traffic was pledged. Oatman Creek Revival Adds Seven Members

The Oatman Creek revival led by Ney J E Akin closed Sunday night with seven new church members. A Bible reading contest drew great interest across ten days with two prizes a large Bible for the top reader and a small Bible for the second. Orvil Tumblingon read 1292 chapters, G W Adams 1043, total chapters read 6847. Twelve children received testaments for participating.

San Saba County Fair Opens With Heat and Dust

The San Saba County fair opened Tuesday morning drawing many locals who attended for the day and others who went yesterday. Attendance was below former years due to extreme heat and dust while stables hold many good horses and racing has been quite good each afternoon.

Tow Valley Camp Meeting Opens Next Sunday

The Tow Valley Camp Meeting will begin Sunday August 17 with Rev Sid Williams in charge of services. Music will be led by an evangelistic gang leader and many members will be illustrated on picture slides. This annual revival draws wide county interest with free camping space and tent and cot reservations on the grounds.
