Coatesville Egg Exchange Auction Signals Strong Prices
Total of 68 cases, with over half from Lancaster County, were sold by dealers from Philadelphia and eastern markets. About 35 Lancaster egg producers joined the Coatesville Egg Producers Exchange serving Lancaster, Chester, and Delaware Counties. The top price reached 4315 cents, higher than earlier bids at the Tri-County Auction at Gentex Point. Quality commanded a premium across grades, with a 14 cent spread between medium and large eggs. HB. Sloat praised the first auction as a success, noting buyers reward quality and producers should improve handling. Sales occur every Tuesday and Friday at 1 PM with Wednesday and Thursday for Friday’s auction and Saturday and Monday for Tuesday’s sale. Information available from Mr. Sloat or from L. T. Miller, manager.
