Farms in One Name for Over 100 Years
Esther Hess sold a 119 acre farm on state highway south of New Providence Lancaster county to her son Charles Hess, keeping it in the family for over a century. The adjacent Shenk farm has also long carried the same name with the present owner the third John Shenk in succession. The area once housed a productive ore bank tied to the Conestoga furnace. Lancaster dog lovers warn of a suspected organized dog theft ring, with thieves posing as hucksters and shipping dogs via sporting magazines to buyers far from Lancaster, including York and Dauphin counties and beyond. Bear the RECORD, 31.50 a year.
