President Hoover calls the Red Cross “mandatory upon the heart of the Nation” as the figure shows a vast program. In one year it spends nearly 10 million dollars and issues hundreds of thousands of first aid and life saving certificates. It aids disaster victims, staffs nurses, teaches nutrition and home care, serves veterans and military families, and sustains millions of volunteers and members.
