A couple drags a new thick spring mattress into a furnished flat and battles stairs. The futile struggle ends with a chaotic tumble and a vow to recount the comic misadventure. The tale skewers domestic buyer’s fever and the odd trials of moving heavy furniture.
A household quarrel unfolds as a mattress resists relocation and nearly terrorizes the sleepers. The narrator jokes about hoisting it through a window or dissecting it into sections to end the nightly struggle and restore rest.
Landis Becker of Lititz was installed as president of the Lititz Local of the Inter-State Milk Producers Association at a Friday night meeting in the Lititz Fire Hall. Other officers include William Shimp of Groffdale as vice president and Walter Binkley of Lititz as secretary. Becker and Binkley were named delegates to the State meeting in Philadelphia November 18 and 19. Addresses were given by Ira Book of Strasburg C. E. Conway of Lititz and F. S. Bucher county farm agent.
