School Law Change Affects Farmers and Children Attendance
The Lancaster County school rule changes require 100 percent attendance for children up to 14 in fourth class districts starting fall term while ages 14 to 16 must reach 70 percent attendance. The shift narrows prior absences allowed for 12 to 14 year olds and raises concerns that farm tasks may replace school time. County reports show eight and a half month schools finished 1924-25. only 19 nine-month schools remain open, to close later this month.
