Comrade Hackman Services Continue Amid Veterans Tributes

The piece notes continued funeral services for Comrade Hackman after the Sunday incident, with veterans and patriotic organizations involved in the arrangements. Details imply a funeral home ceremony and ongoing tributes.

Veteran Hackman Laid To Rest After Long Life Of Service

The Lititz High School Band led the procession as Comrade Hackman’s body lay in state and guards of honor stood at the casket. The 91 year old Civil War veteran of the 55th Pennsylvania Infantry witnessed Cold Harbor, Appomattox, and the Chicago fire. He later worked in a Chicago grocery, drove a horse car, and entered the hotel business before retiring in 1920 to Lititz with his daughter Mrs. John Bender. He hunted late in life and spoke often of games in the Young Men’s Business League where he introduced cribbage. He marched in Memorial Day parades and influenced the local Legion to continue the tradition. He belonged to U S Grant Post No 28 G A R in Chicago and was an honorary member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Lititz. He attended the Moravian Church and served with the 55th Pennsylvania Infantry in many states without wounds. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Byron K. Horne at the funeral home and cemetery.

Echternach dazzles with Liszt Chopin and Totentanz recital

The program features Rubinstein Echternach performing ECHTERNACH pin and Stacado Etude by Rubinstein, Liszt Totentanz with piano and organ, and Saint-Saens Concerto. He displays singing tone in the Saint-Saens first movement, balance in the finale, and brilliance in the Stacatto Etude. The Chopin nocturne shines with spiritual depth, and the Totentanz ends with massive chords. The choir, directed by Harry Neidermyer, sings Psalm 150. Ruth Hackman plays A Shepherd's Tale as offertory.
