Farm Calendar Prevent Feed Waste
One way of reducing feed costs in the poultry enterprise is by preventing waste. Plaster laths along the top sides of the feeders help to prevent spilling. Overfilling the feeders also should be avoided. Mash, at present prices, makes expensive litter. Feed Silage To Steers. If it seems desirable to limit the amount of corn fed as grain, it is best during the first part of the feeding period to give the steers only silage and hay, with enough linseed oil cake or cottonseed meal to balance the ration.
