Vacation Bible Schools Open Sessions In Local Churches

Community Vacation Church School sessions begin Monday at 8 AM in the Moravian Church education building and United Brethren Church school. The program runs three weeks with four town churches Moravian Lutheran United Brethren and Reformed sending pupils for weekday instruction alongside Sunday School.

J M Huffington, vegetable gardening specialist of Pennsylvania State College, leads a discussion comparing 12 pea varieties for vine, pod shape, and yield next Wednesday at 9 o clock Standard Time at Carl D. Huber's Lititz Route 1 farm. The College Extension Branch aims to help farmers cut living costs with daily fresh garden vegetables.

Lutz pool opens this afternoon with a public opening event and admission as low as five cents for all attendees.

Park Music Competition To Be Repeated In June

Memorial Day competition drew 2000 attendees with 400 participants featuring vocal and instrumental acts. Organizers announced a repeat event on Saturday June 15 under the same auspices with the best acts from last Thursday repeated and new acts added. Admission remains 20 cents for adults while children enter free.

Keys Rohrer Tie Knot in Drexel Hill Ceremony

Mildred Yerger Rohrer and James Keys wed Saturday morning at 4:30 PM at the bride's brother Horace Yerger's home in Drexel Hill. Rev. Porter officiated with immediate family present. The bride wore ecru silk lace and carried blue forget me nots. Attendants included two nieces, Lucile Verger and Mrs. William Dixon. A wedding breakfast followed at the Dixon home. The couple planned a two week Tennessee honeymoon and will reside at the Yerger home on East Lincoln Avenue.

St Pauls Sunday School Honors Mrs Longenecker Dinner

Active workers in St Pauls Lutheran Sunday School hosted a testimonial dinner for Mary B Longenecker retiring Director of Religious Education. She departs for Tressler Orphans Home in Lyonsville to teach and work there. She was pensioned by the State after a long public school career. Many expressed gratitude for her service to the church and community. Continued on Page 4.

Linden Hall 10 To Graduate At Linden Hall

The Rev. Vigil E. Rover will deliver the commencement address to Linden Hall graduates at 10 o'clock Tuesday in the Moravian Church. Ten young women compose the class, Linden Hall’s 189th term. fall opens a 190th term with a junior college added. Four diplomas go to college prep, five to general academic, one to home economics. Alumnae Day features a luncheon at 1 6% clock, exhibit at 4, and church service at 7. The sermon Sunday is by Rev Byron K. Horne. Class Day Monday includes a Garden Party at 2:30 and the Senior Play in the Linden Hall auditorium at 7330.

Local man travels to Washington amid NIRA scrap and political shifts

A local man went to Washington on business as the NIRA was scrapped and returned this week. He was cautioned by his acquaintances not to be harsh on Roosevelt's policies this trip. The Lancaster papers note party switches by H. J. Pierson of Lititz. Drs Richard Musser and Geo Keehn aided a girl who fell from the wire at the circus Friday night. A town youth expresses interest in cantaloupes and growing fruit.

Six past presidents joined current leader Mrs. Leon Madilem for a County Past Presidents Party dinner at General Sutter. Lititz High School marks 50th anniversary with alumni banquet

Mrs. Elizabeth E Hepp recalled Lititz High School days fifty years ago before about 185 alumni and 40 graduates at the General Sutter Hotel. Lititz High celebrated its founding year and the 1885 expansion to a three year curriculum with the first three year class graduating in 1886.
