The Lititz Record 1883 July 20 Frightful jumble of notes and notices
The Lititz Record issues a long bustling page note packed with varied items. It warns of press deadlines and music submission rules, mixed with stray jokes on mosquitos and lime dust. It also previews Tom Thumb’s death and celebrates Spring grounds picnics, land deals, cattle ranching and political commentary on state races. It closes with ads for sewing machines and a grand Millway Grove picnic.
Campaign Drift AmidSummer Heat
In the lingering summer days there is little to divert the mind from politics and the general hope for some gainful activity as citizens reflect on the season and its quiet distractions.
San Rafael Ranch Sold to Eastern Syndicate for Large Stock Venture
San Rafael ranch changed hands to a Pennsylvania purchaser acting for a strong eastern syndicate led by Colin Cameron. The deal aims to run tens of thousands of cattle and horses across a 65 mile by 16 mile altitude ranch famed for year round grass and water from the Santa Cruz river and numerous springs. Richardson says the venture will boost Arizona stock industry, with plans to add about a thousand herd head and build up a major regional stock business in Partners L. Gormerly and A. Harbison involved.
