Lightning strikes tree and follows washline into Lititz home
A bolt of lightning hit a locust tree behind Mrs. Elizabeth Lippett’s Spruce Street home, then traveled along a wash line into the summer kitchen, splintering boards. She found the energy entered her house as she went to inspect the tree amid Fourth of July celebrations. Thousands packed Lititz for the nation’s birthday event, with Beck’s Concert Band and a Ladies and Knights of the Golden Eagle parade drawing large crowds.
