Denver Beats Lititz Twice on July Fourth Local Baseball Double
Denver defeats Lititz in both games of a July Fourth baseball doubleheader. Morning game plagued by Lititz errors. Babe Wolfskill shines, Doremus saves center, and McCloyn prevails in pitching. Afternoon sees Denver pull away with stronger hitting and better pitching from McCloud. Lititz shows late opportunity but lacks a clutch hit. The larger engine came from Neuwied in 1793 and was rebuilt for Lititz by Martin Skreiner about 1812, named Pride nship but known as Assistance. The smaller engine, misdated 1793, built by Merrick and Agnew around 1830, carried goods from Philadelphia to the Moravian store and was also misnamed, with the house name Friendship.
