Final Burial For Pottstown Mummy After 12 Centuries
Barry Mummy from Pottstown will be laid to rest soon after over 12 years in the retaining rooms of Harvey C. Wilson Inc. on North Charlotte Street. Many have viewed the mummy since preparation for burial began, with burial set for April 1, 1961. The deceased, James Peters, 55, Greek native, died in Pottstown Hospital from lobar pneumonia. No relatives appeared, the body was embalmed, and the mummy has remained preserved though petrified amid fluctuating room temperatures. The face remains clean shaven, refuting the belief that hair grows after death.
