Farmers Selling Tobacco At Moderate Prices This Year
Word comes in from the farms that farmers are disposing of this year’s tobacco crop at an average price of 10 and 3. While this price is not the highest, a seasoned observer estimates that the 10 and 3 price equates to about 15 and 5 from five years ago when prices were higher. In many sections the crop is largely sold and the movement is hoped to revive business as money flows to merchants on farm accounts, improving outlook for local merchants.
