Deer Kilt Predicted Great Year For Centre County Deer
Pre season forecasts that deer hunting would be exceptional in Centre county appear fulfilled as open season volleys push total kills beyond last year’s 500. The Yarnell McMullem party from Heela boasted an albino buck slain on opening day after days of near misses. Wardens report over 150 deer killed in two days in the Seven Mountains region.

Quality tobacco crops can be improved in Lancaster County
State College professor C. D. Haley urged quality over quantity at Lancaster County Tobacco Growers Association meeting. He cited experiments at State College and Ephrata to boost Lancaster tobacco, outlining a best local formula of cotton seed meal, acid phosphate and potassium carbonate. R. L. Kimbrough noted farmer interest and $1 per acre contributions, with plans for an annual tobacco show to be arranged by Otto Olson and L. C. Cramer. Reservations urged for Thanksgiving at Burkholder’s, and Blue Goose oranges sold at Leaman & Leeds Stores.
