Col Forney Dies at Philadelphia at Sixty Four
Obituary notes Col John W Forney a prominent journalist and politician born in 1817 in Lancaster County. He edited the Lancaster Journal then the Union in Ashington, led the Democratic State Committee in 1856, founded the Progress, and died at his Philadelphia residence after a long career in journalism and public service. He was interred at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
