A fire was discovered in the cocoa room of the Ideal chocolate factory at 8 o clock Wednesday morning. A running machine was burning but smoldering. water flooded the machine, causing little damage though smoke filled the area. Holes burned in the sifters. cause suspected as hot bearing or a nail in the beans. Superintendent Alvin Ohle was alerted and hotel staff were quickly summoned.

He consulted about six doctors and tried medicines and home remedies such as ice cream coffee and breath holding without relief. Neighbors helped by preparing his tobacco for stripping to allow rest.

Victor Sturgis, a Reading railroad special officer from Reading, arrested Wilbur Sheaffer of Columbia, 17, after a two year spree of petty thefts. Sheaffer confessed to larceny and nighttime breaking in, including Rein Holds station, and was taken to Alderman Minden in Lancaster with parole history from Irvin Brown’s farm and Rotary Home corroboration by Harry Martzall. He will remain in custody at the Rotary Home facility.

Myers Office Building Opens Beside Public School
The three story structure owned by N S Myers is finished interior with twenty two rooms. Mr Myers occupies one room and H J Karer real estate dealer has another with a general office. Each office has a telephone linoleum flooring up to date furniture and the outside walls are stuccoed to match the adjoining residence also owned by Myers. A door from the residence leads into the office and a large electric sign will be erected outside with plans to beautify the yard making it a top town office building.

Mrs Emma Spangler of East Main street slipped on backyard steps and tore a ligament in her left foot. Mrs Jacob Singley was admitted to St Joseph Hospital on Sunday and underwent gallstone surgery the next day. Hiram Demmy, boarding with Mrs Plantaz on East Main street, entered Lancaster General Hospital last Friday with a sore left foot. he is 78 years old.
