Pursuit of Thoroughness in Work and Life
A wide-ranging piece argues that true success comes from thorough effort rather than quick, halfhearted work. It laments superficial skill in sewing and housekeeping, stresses lifelong study, and cites a basketmaker's quality as proof that diligent practice yields reliability. It also notes yellow fever losses in Grenada and charitable aid to southern cities. The column ends with a satirical note on a Pullman secretary Angell who embezzled funds, and a camp meeting hymn mishap.
