Muscovy Ducks Prove Profitable Farm Stock in Local Area
Andrew Govhenour reports his Muscovy ducks thrive on grass and sand mixed into feed, reaching ten to twelve pounds and earning about 36 cents a pound live weight last winter. The birds are tame and quiet, with strong white meat and breast yields, while upward weight and low maintenance make them a promising farm stock in this region. Walnuts also look good this year as trees recover from past logging for exports to Germany, with Jacob Ritter’s English walnut tree yielding three to four bushels and potential $24 value per productive season.
