David Rickert of Lexington tends a twelve year old Bellflower apple tree loaded with fruit after thinning. Expect about eleven bushels with clean fruit from sprays. Bellflower is a late variety that keeps to Christmas and remains rarely seen on markets. Sociable stones move to form compact piles in Nevada

In Nevada a curious phenomenon occurs with so called sociable stones. When a few stones are placed about two or three feet apart on level ground they migrate toward a central point with surprising speed. Campers noticed the effect while using wrapping paper as a tablecloth and weighting its corners with stones. The stones gathered in the middle, then wandered back into a heap, proving a social tendency among the rocks.
