Postal express regulation reshapes US parcel system
Reg changes effective August 15 expand zones radiating 150 miles from centers. Weight limit rises to 20 pounds, fees set at five cents per first pound plus one cent per additional pound. New rate pressures express firms, likely cutting at least one third of their revenue, while rural routes generate government income. Likely a postal fast freight for large parcels and long distances becomes inevitable.
