Lititz Drops 4-3 After Eight In Tight Game
Lititz battled Denver to the eighth inning before a late rally cost them a 4-3 loss. Enck pitched seven strong frames as Diehm Twardy and Hoffman produced early runs, while Keller and Joak sparked two double plays. A dropped ball in the eighth opened the floodgates as Lebo, Weiler and Firestone pushed Denver ahead. The stormy frame sealed Lititz’s defeat despite solid defense and 1 hour 40 minute game time.

Major League Baseball Spotlight Highlights Pennant Race
The Pirates lead the National League with a five game edge on the Giants as Reds pitchers Luque Donahue and Rixey topple New York in three straight games. In the American League the A’s push toward the 1924 champions Senators while Washington relies on Zachary and a strong pitching staff. White Sox lose ground to Red Sox, Tigers hover near fourth while Yankees and Browns fade. Dodgers remain fourth in NL after a double loss to Pirates. Cardinals and Phillies eye mid-pack respectability, Cubs and Braves hold spots seven and eight. Lititz Quoit loses to Lancaster Malta 213 to 272 points. Maltas likely return before season end.

Recordings reflect a summer of plenty and caution
A dated recap notes a wet summer with abundant melons and cantaloupes, plentiful but pricey apples, and good corn markets. It observes too much rain for tobacco, suggests thrift in spending, and lightly quotes Ben Franklin about shopkeeping. Various social quips touch on weddings, fashion, and prosperity.
