A Coal Peace Is In Sight Says UMW Leader
Lititz area dispatch notes President John L. Lewis and United Mine Workers leaders expect a peace conference with operators within thirty days. They predict a coal shortage as strike stock is exhausted by late May, raising prices and prompting a push for national industry regulation. The public would bear the cost while miners gain wagelifts. A national inquiry into industry organization is urged.
