Farmers To Get Tomato Crop Plan
A public meeting of all farmers will be held at the local Fire House tomorrow at 7 30 in the interest of growing tomatoes for Campbell Soup Company of Camden New Jersey. A Campbell official will explain the plan and answer questions. The company will contract with county farmers paying 16 per ton for first quality and 8 per ton for second quality. Joseph Bucher of Lititz R D and several others have contracted to grow tomatoes this summer and will attend to introduce local farmers to the Campbell representative. He says tomatoes offer more money with less work than tobacco and cash will be paid by November 15. Planting would reduce tobacco surplus now three years ahead.
