Summer House Destroyed by Fire on Bruckart Farm
Fire swept a frame summer house on Andrew Bruckart's farm one half mile east of town along the Reading railroad last Thursday afternoon. The adjacent stone dwelling escaped damage due to wind direction and its sturdy construction. Bucket brigades aided efforts to save the dwelling, but the summer house and its contents were lost, with damages in the hundreds. The blaze likely started from a spark blown from a passing freight engine, though the exact cause remains undetermined. The building had seen no recent use.
