Paul G Rauer 86 of Jasonville route two died at his home after a three month illness. Born in Germany on December 3 1870 he lived in the Jasonville area most of his life working in coal mines. Survived by a daughter two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral at McClanahan Funeral Home Monday at 2 pm burial in Lebanon Cemetery Midland.
Merited student Franklin Meredith Cooper of Linton was elected to the Freshmen's Self Governing Council at Franklin College. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Hubert Cooper of Linton.
Washington economists estimate total cigarette consumption will reach about 405 billion for 1957 if the January July rate stays. They note Americans smoked 392 billion in 1956 and a newspaper record of 394 billion in 1952 despite links between smoking and lung cancer.
