Cyndi Legler 21 from Fort Wayne Ind reached the Miss America finals as one of ten semifinalists after winning the Indiana state title at Michigan City earlier this summer.
Robert Illcox 48 and his son Andrew 17 escaped with cuts and bruises after a forced landing five miles southwest of Versailles. The craft, en route Versailles to Madison, suffered extensive damage to propeller wings and fuselage in a soybean field after engine trouble. They were treated at a local hospital and released. Mild autumn weather with highs in the 70s to 80s and minimal rain is forecast through Friday.
David Myer a 26 year old cycle guard from Monroe Minnesota suffered serious eye injuries while sitting on a porch in Indianapolis. He was posted to watch about 20 cycles outside the Outlaws clubhouse as members met inside. Investigators say thieves fired the shot when surprised to find a guard.
Telesis Corp announced an Indiana cable network to serve state cable systems and a Lafayette satellite earth station to provide special programming. President Richard F. Shively said construction would begin after FCC approval in Washington.
Mine Run Daily Citizen plans a county wide Bicentennial issue in late October with Faye L. Flynn authoring most material. A large illegal dump has formed behind county trash bins two miles south of Linton on Highway 59. Residents dump appliances, furniture, and debris, creating smoke and odor as the area expands toward a popular fishing road. County workers face cleanup costs and prosecutions may follow for violators.
Vigo County fogging units delayed by heavy rain and a fogger breakdown in Linton. Fire Chief to repair in Westfield while city awaits Vigo units or uses its own fogger.
