McDonald Appointed To Unexpired Term In Greene County
Lester McDonald of Jasonville was appointed in a Greene County Board of Commissioners special session to fill the unexpired term of Royal W. Bedwell as trustee of Smith township. Bedwell, the Republican winner, died Friday November 18. McDonald will serve the remainder of the first term and the second term through December 31, 1970.

Fire Department Reports Alarms In Four Runs
The Linton Fire Department made four runs on Wednesday. A 10:55 a.m. alarm cited a car carburetor backfire in a Melody Music truck from Terre Haute with $10 damage. At 4:30 p.m. a county rescue unit ferried Mrs. Wiliam Pirtle to Freeman Greene County Hospital in critical condition. Two more calls at 4:45 p.m. sent crews to a grass and hay fire at 1060 Fifth Street and a tree blaze at the General Electric plant on Twelfth Street.

Deer Hunt Yields 1,100 Deer For About 1,400 Hunters
Controlled hunts on three government reservations produced over 1,100 deer for around 1,400 hunters. Camp Atterbury led with 520 carcasses for 600 hunters, Av Crane Depot logged 352 deer for 500 hunters, and Jefferson Proving Ground reported 235 deer for 300 hunters. A separate archery and muzzle loader hunt began earlier in the week with over 60 deer killed.

Two Bloomington men, Daniel L. Fulford and Billy Joe Stout, were killed in a two car crash east of Milan Indiana 350 in Ripley County late Thursday. Four others injured as statewide Thanksgiving weekend traffic deaths rose to six and the 1966 toll reached at least 1,379.
