Traffic Toll Climbs Steadily in Indiana 1966
Indiana’s 1966 traffic fatality toll rose with three deaths on Monday and three more in the early hours. The toll stood at least 1,334, up from 1,289 a year earlier. Donald E. Allom, 38, of Winchester, died when his truck struck a pole on a Randolph County road. Ruby Sears, 53, of Linton, died in a high speed collision near Linton. Hoosier Faces Murder Charges in Turnpike Shooting
Michael J. Hartley of Goshen Indiana was charged with first degree murder in the fatal shooting of an 11 month old on the Ohio Turnpike. Deputies said Hartley was captured in Goshen and waived extradi. The baby died from a bullet wound in the head amid a high speed chase described by the English family. The Englishes and two children were jailed as material witnesses. No charges were filed against them.
