The Linton area reported calm polling with about 1,000 of 2,800 voters cast by noon. First and Second wards saw livelier action than the Third, while overall results were not yet clear and some scratching appeared likely as voters chose among municipal candidates.

York politics shift as Virginia elects a governor and several states hold local contests. In New York, voters choose a Court of Appeals judge, two state senators and a new assembly while New York City conducts a key municipal election. Paxton Illinois November 8 hundreds of men hunted ten bandits who robbed the New Orleans limited two miles south of town wounded four train workers seized two mail pouches and fled after setting the car ablaze. The crew said the bandits headed west in two cars as Chicago guards and central Illinois towns were alerted.
Riga Nov 8 A Moscow wireless message says Bolshevik prisons in Russia will release thousands for the revolution anniversary but hundreds of political prisoners will not be amnestied. Death sentences are commuted to five years. shorter terms and conditional releases are granted.
An unsettled forecast calls for rain or snow in the north and south portions tonight with colder conditions expected tomorrow and in the northwest. The pattern suggests varied precipitation and cooling across regions.
Princeton Ind. Nov 8 Henry Wright named by Gilson county draft board was arrested at Owensville thirteen miles northwest of here and is held by Sheriff Flowers pending word from army authorities Wright says he worked near Princeton all summer under an assumed name and had been sought nationwide
Washington November 8 The interstate commerce commission granted the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad permission to acquire control by purchase of the capital stock of the Chicago Terre Haute and Southeastern railway in a move shaping regional rail control.
Mayor Andrew J. Miller proclaims Friday November 11 1921 Armistice Day in Linton urging business suspensions when possible. He calls citizens to gather in churches and schools to commemorate the day and recommends tolling bells between 11:45 a.m. and noon and a two minute period of silent prayer from noon to 12:02 p.m.
On November 8 in Louisville Kentucky Democratic mayoral candidate W Overton Harris and Democratic sheriff nominee Dr H E Mechling faced disorderly conduct charges after a police alert at a hotel. A Courier Journal reporter James Dixon was arrested amid investigations alleging conspiracies to defraud the election. Police later released all detainees on bond as officers searched for alleged voter intimidation accomplices.
Leavenworth Kas November 8 Harry W Bailey, serving six months in the army disciplinary barracks for the man who saved his life on a French battlefield, was released by order of the war department. Bailey swapped places with Thomas W Jones who had desertion punishment. Jones is said to be in Canada, married, Bailey said, as an act of sober debt.
Horace Bennett Jr., two, son of Mr and Mrs Horace Bennett of 2114 South Tenth and one half street, drowned about 2 30 yesterday afternoon in a yard vat filled with rain water. The child was missing about fifteen minutes before being found and was believed dead about ten minutes prior to examination.
Sinn Fein delegates in London awaited progress from meetings between Prime Minister Lloyd George and Ulster premier Sir James Craig. Reports say Viscount Gizalan and other Irish leaders are consulted as negotiations continue in Downing Street with a possible return to Belfast. An AP dispatch noted nine prisoners freed from Curragh and others released from Ballykinlar internment camps.
Senator John W. Harreld of Oklahoma Republican rested well after a minor operation yesterday at Walter Reed Military Hospital in Washington. Doctors described his condition as stable and improving as he recovers under medical care.
