Auxiliary Poppy Sale Set For Next Saturday in Linton
The Auxiliary of the Frank Courtney post of the American Legion in Linton will run its annual poppy sale next Saturday with Girl Scouts assisting. A booth at the southeast corner of A and Main streets will serve as headquarters, and proceeds fund rehabilitation and child welfare work. James Harley White a retired coal miner age 63 of Linton died at 3 17 this morning in Freeman Greene County Hospital after three years of illness. He lived in Williamsburg Kentucky born July 20 1891 son of Rev Jason and Lunedra Sutton White. He was a Buck Creek UMWA member survived by widow Bertha Cooper White two sons and five daughters with several siblings. He was taken to Welch and Cornell Funeral Home for arrangements to be announced later.

Man Fatally Killed At Gypsum Mine in Shoals
Shoals Indiana authorities report Millard Brittain 43 of Washington was killed in a gypsum mine accident at the National Gypsum Co plant. The former Daviess county school attendance officer was an electrician who fell with a hoisted motor from the tipple.
