Four year old Sullivan girl Danetta Kay Rice, granddaughter of Daniel and Leah Rice, remained in critical condition at Mary Sherman hospital after being struck on U S 41 Sunday. She suffered a fractured skull and leg fractures above the knee and was unconscious. The car belonged to Dr. Strange of Loogootee and was driven by his grandson. The child’s father was killed in an auto accident in November 1949.

Lobaugh Granted Six Month Stay Of Execution
INDIANAPOLIS May 23 Ralph W Lobaugh confessed killer of four Fort Wayne women was spared the electric chair for the 10th time Gov Henry F Schricker granted a six month stay of execution from next Friday to November 26 1950 Lobaugh a factory worker walked into Kokomo police station three years ago to confess the sex murders of Mrs Dorothea Howard Wilhelma Haaga and Anna Kuzeff He later denied the confession but pleaded guilty when tried in October 1947 He repeatedly confessed and repudiated his confessions and won repeated stays of execution from the courts and Schricker A year ago he asked an appeal to the Indiana Supreme Court be dismissed and for executive clemency Last December after Franklin Click was convicted of killing Phyllis Conine in Fort Wayne during 1945 Lobaugh added that murder to his list Schricker ordered a full investigation of the murders a year ago and said the investigation in this matter has not been completed.
