Andrew Jackson Lee aged 91 died at 2 20 Friday afternoon at his daughter’s home in Bloomfield He was a lifelong Greene and Lawrence counties farmer born November 26 1858 in Lawrence county Survived by two daughters Lola Combs and Lela Fickle two sons Lester Combs and Carl Combs one sister Mrs Liza True Funeral services were held at the Combs residence with Rev S A Ferguson and burial followed in Grandview cemetery Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home Bloomfield directed arrangements
Linton Junior High football finishes 3 wins 1 loss after beating Sullivan Junior High 14 7 at Sullivan Friday afternoon. Coach John Wade led the Linton squad this season.
Frank Campbell 66, retired farmer, died at 2 00 am at his daughter Mrs Beasley Switz City rural route after a long illness. Survived by wife Flora two sons Bill of Solsberry Fred of Switz City one daughter Mrs Beasley three sisters and two brothers. Funeral at Solsberry Methodist church Wednesday at 2 00 pm with Rev Lloyd Miller officiating burial in Solsberry cemetery.
Rescue teams searched the Ohio river 20 miles southwest of Evansville for the bodies of three children and a 19-year-old man after a motorboat overturned. James Hinderliter of Evansville had taken six children on a ride. three were saved, and victims included Marcellus Dieg Jr., Donald Dieg, and Hilary Carr. The Diegs were from Mt. Vernon, others from Evansville.
Mrs Murray Terhune will host the W S C S members of the Methodist church Thursday at 1 30 p m at her Keystone pond home. Attendees are asked to bring a bar of soap for a gilt box.

Details include names and birth weights for new babies: Doneva Mae Townsend, Gordon O, James Frederick, Ronald Edward, and David Micheal with weights ranging from 5 pounds 15 ounces to 8 pounds 4 ounces. Multiple admissions and major surgeries are noted for patients in Linton, Worthington, Bloomfield, Jasonville, Lyons, and mineral, with several individuals discharged Sunday.
Frank A. Lenning, clerk of the Greene circuit court at Bloomfield, issues a marriage license to Bobby Cox of Soisberry and Rosalie Cooper of Wor.
Sixteen members of Lyons high school class of 1950 will receive diplomas at a 8:00 p m commencement in the Lyons school auditorium. Rev Ray Montgomery of Connersville will deliver the address and F Wilford Landes of Lyons Church of Christ gave the baccalaureate sermon. The Linton Eagles baseball team split two games last weekend. They tied 8 8 with the Jasonville Merchants after seven innings as Roy Herndon pitched well but errors hurt. They then beat Winslow 3 1 with Lefty Laughlin allowing five hits over nine innings. The club plans a rematch with Jasonville at Linton and travels to Bedford, with a May 28 home date versus Lawrenceville Illinois.
A meeting for captains forming a golf league will be held at 6 30 o'clock Wednesday evening at the Linton Municipal course clubhouse. Local pro Bob Hess said captains should bring player lists. He noted players not yet affiliated may join and that organizers hope for twelve to sixteen teams. Rules and regulations for summer play will be discussed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Alderson Roberts 79 of South Linton were held at the Assembly of God church with Rev. W F Duncan officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. She was born in Durham county England on January 9 1871 and married Richard J Roberts in 1938. She is survived by her husband four daughters four sons a stepdaughter two stepsons and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tickets for the Jack Benny Phil Harris show in Indianapolis arrive at the Greater Linton club office. On May 24 tickets may be obtained Tuesday after noon between four and five o clock. A total of 152 tickets have been sold for the performance.
A meeting of the Linton Community Conservation Club will be held at 7 30 this evening at the clubhouse in Lee Sherrard Park. Club officers announced plans for a fish fry in late May and urged all members to attend.

Greene county launches a 60 day drive led by Esbel Beasley to collect the remaining 65 eligible next of kin applications for the Indiana World War II Bonus. He notes 68 of 133 deceased veterans’ next of kin have filed and urges prompt contact for assistance.
A music festival features four barbershop quartets a 30 voice male chorus and a string band at 8:00 Tuesday evening in Carlisle high school gym. The White River Valley chapter of the S F E B S Q S A presents the show to benefit Indian Prairie Baptist church with no admission fee and a free will offering.
Miss Leanne Hagaman of Linton has been awarded a McMahon scholarship to DePauw University in Greencastle. She was one of eighteen scholarship winners announced by DePauw University officials today.
Two crashes damaged four vehicles in Greene county last weekend. Five people were arrested, including Leon Lloyd Collins and Roy M. McGarr, on charges of reckless driving and intoxication, with multiple fines and suspensions imposed after investigations by state and local police.
County and township candidates must file campaign expense statements with the county clerk within thirty days after the May 2 primary. Clerk Frank A. Lenning warned that failure to file could bar an elected candidate from qualifying for office next fall.

Mr and Mrs Cliff Strong Mr and Mrs Bart Swaby Jr and Mr and Mrs Edward Slover of this community visited Jack Strong at Lyndon Kentucky yesterday He is a student at Kentucky Military Academy The group escorted their mothers to the school chapel for the guest of honor service preached by Rev Charles W Grant of Crescent Hill Methodist Louisville The afternoon ended with a dress parade by Kentucky Military Academy students.
