Charles Woody of Worthington admitted Friday for medical treatment. Carolyn Kaney of Springville admitted Friday and dismissed Saturday with a fractured left arm. Dallas Cunningham of Linton Route 3 had an appendectomy Friday. Thomas and Rudy Stefancik of Linton Route 2 had tonsillectomies Saturday and were sent home Sunday. William Bogard 46 a Lyons farmer was found burned to death on the Lyons Linton road near Lyons. Sheriff Mansfield and Coroner Dr. Graff noted no foul play and suspected accidental death. The vehicle burned with interior upholstery destroyed and the gasoline tank exploded. Bogard, last seen in Linton, likely slept in the car en route home. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, a sister, and a half brother. funeral set for Tuesday at the Lyons Funeral Home with burial in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
Wiley of Terre Haute captured the 1948 Wabash Valley track title at Rose Field Terre Haute with 5144 points. Linton finished with 115 points as Casey Illinois placed second. Norbert Graves of Linton placed fifth in the 120 yard high hurdles and tied for fifth in the high jump. Bloomfield earned runner up in the freshman relays and medley events with second and third places.
The Allen's Flower Shop team announced another workout at 5 30 tonight at the diamond in Weigh School Park following a practice session last Friday.

A C Robinson 53, Linton coal miner, died Sunday morning at his sister Mrs Ora Enochs home. Born Feb 2 1895 at Plainville, he leaves two brothers Elmer of South Bend Melvin of Toledo and a sister Mrs Knochs plus four nieces and one nephew. Welch and Cornett Funeral Home announced calling hours and funeral with Rev W W Wilson officiating at 10 Wednesday morning.
Election results may be obtained Tuesday evening by telephoning 1010 at Republican headquarters. Loudspeakers were installed so people outside can hear the reports as they are received.
The Indiana Department of Conservation notes that despite lifting the close season on panfish this year, other game fish remain protected. The bass and pike closed season runs from May 1 to dine.

Federal mine inspector commends recent safety gains at the Regent mine operated by Linton-Summit Coal Co 7 miles east of Sullivan Indiana. He urges deeper ventilation upgrades rock dusting near faces air locks at cross entries and safer handling practices to prevent explosions and roof falls with copies of the report available in Washington and Vincennes.
Ward reports the death of Frank E. Whitefield a former Hammond resident at his home on April 25 aged 69. His wife Chloe Moreland Whitefield preceded him in death three years earlier. Survived by four sons and four daughters all of Hammond. Rites held April 27 with burial at Elmwood.

Garrett Schloot 70, noted Jasonville hardware and furniture merchant, civic leader, and Greene County resident, died suddenly of a heart attack while leaving his store. Survived by four sons, one daughter, two brothers, and a sister, with funeral set for Tuesday at the Jasonville Christian Church. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Linton.
Greene county oil prospects rise and fall as Sallee Brothers drilling rig moves to a new site on Basil Archer farm two miles north of Lloyd Richardson test and a quarter mile west. Previous tests on Lloyd Richardson and Paul Shonk farms showed gas in one and none in another. Past wells in Wright and Clay counties failed to produce in paying quantities.
