Delegates Named for Washington Parley Over Worker Strike

In Chicago on March 17 Dennis Lane and Redmond S. Brennan were chosen as labor delegates to a Washington parley ordered by Labor Secretary James J. Davis to settle a dispute between packers and their employees. They gain authority to call a strike by the ten international unions under the Alschuler arbitration pact. Employed stockyard workers voted roughly four to one for a strike with similar sentiment in other cities. The group endorses the AM cutters and butchers and pledges support against the packers and their allies. The dispute centers on the packers repudiating the Alscher agreement. The packers deny any plans to break a potential walkout.
