Deaf five-year-old found drowned in Billerica river
In Billerica Massachusetts the body of Larry Bearse five who was deaf was found in the Shawsheen River after a 22 hour search by 1500 police firefighters airmen and volunteers. He wandered from home Saturday while his sister Katherine was found safe. The boy who could speak only a few words could not call for help. His body lay in six feet of water two miles from home. His father is a soldier stationed abroad.

Two injured in a late Saturday crash near Paragon on state road 67 involved Rex J Mix and Wesley Simpson. Mrs Rex Mix suffered a severe scalp injury while Simpson sustained head and internal injuries. A passing motorist Loren Wonders found a pocket with sixteen dollars and keys wedged in his car frame. Two Greene County Collisions Injure Three People
Two separate crashes in Greene County early Saturday left three people with minor injuries. Mrs. Earl Weinert, 58, of Flint Michigan, and two Bloomfield residents, Earl Cullison, 18, and David Lee Combs, 19, were treated and held for observation. The first accident near the Old Armory corner involved Weinert’s car and a vehicle driven by Marvin E. Doane of Switz City, with Weinert’s car heavily damaged. The second crash on State Road 54 saw Combs’ car rear-end a tractor-trailer, demolishing both the car and the tractor. All others involved were uninjured or treated and released.
