Indiana farmers hold unusually large reserves of corn wheat and oats as of March 1 with 93 876 000 bushels of corn 5 414 000 of wheat and 33 825 000 of oats. Station reports cite costly transport poor roads and prices below cost of production driving holding patterns and heavy trading among farmers.
Freel Bayes, a leader at the Little Betty mine, suffered serious internal injuries and a broken leg from a slate fall yesterday morning. He is recovering at Freeman city hospital, and his family resides at the Little Giant blocks. A misprint misattributed an operation to Mrs Bayes. the correction notes the error.
Rev D Heitmeyer starts a Sunday night lecture series at the Baptist church. The first talk titled The All-Seeing Eye and the All-Feeling Heart will address problems troubling many minds. Future topics include On Calvary, The Conquering Galilean, The Great Peace, Souls for Sale, and The Roll of Heroes with strong crowds in prior series.
The funeral for the late Robert Froeschke will be held at the Saren Reformed church at 2 o clock Saturday afternoon. The service was moved from the Methodist church due to repair work at the Reformed church, now expected to be completed by Saturday.
A called meeting of Linton Lodge F and A M is held tonight to confer the Entered Apprentice degree. Members are urged to attend as a formal rite and attendance is requested by the lodge officers.
Notice is given that a petition signed by John W. Johnson and others, freeholders and voters, requests the Board of Commissioners order a road designated as No. 25 to be improved wholly within Greene County. The filing occurred March 7, 1921, with hearing set within thirty days. The route runs from Main Street Newark, along Newark Solsberry road, across Mary E. Miller tract and other parcels to connect with the Solsberry Hendricksville road, proposing nine foot wide pavement with stone or gravel, berms, ditches, culverts and bridges. The hearing will be before Greene County Board of Commissioners at the county court house. Interested parties may appear to show cause why the petition should not be granted. Dated March 9, 1921.
