Escape of Hoosier Robber Foiled in Indiana
Edwin Lynn Fogle 21 of Wilmington Illinois a convicted bank robber on the way to Indiana Reformatory attempted to escape Deputy Sheriff Ronald Stevens at a roadside restaurant west of Tipton. Fogle tossed coffee struck the deputy then fought over the pistol discharging twice and injuring Stevens thumb. The assailant bit Stevens throat leaving severe lacerations before control was restored. Fogle had earlier robbed Kouts State Bank taking over 4300 dollars and was captured 49 minutes later at a state police roadblock.

Brazil youth 18 killed in road crash near Brazil Ind

White River Near Flood Stage At Elliston Today
White River rose to its highest level in three and a half years at Elliston reaching 16.80 feet at 7:00 a.m. today. U.S. Weather Observer M. E.
