Charles C. Denman 71 of Glenburn died at 6 30 this morning at his home. Born August 21 1876 in Ohio he spent most of his life in Linton area. Survived by widow Jessie M Denman five sons and five daughters two brothers and three sisters the body to Newkirk Funeral Home Pleasantville with funeral arrangements pending.
All members are urged to attend a business meeting at Teen Town Hall Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The notice calls for complete member participation and timely attendance.

A boy was born to Mrs. Le land Powell of Jasonville Friday. Mrs. Beatrice Frye of Lyons gave birth to a boy Sunday named Ronald Ray. Mrs. Veda Pope of Linton gave birth to a boy today. Several residents from Linton Jasonville and surrounding towns underwent major or minor surgeries and medical treatments over the weekend with several admitted for care and others dismissed.
Pistol Pete owned by Banks and Wits of Linton won the first heat tree and later the second tree in a coon dog field trial at Palestine Illinois. Two other Banks and Wits dogs King and Red Rock failed to qualify while Linton dogs Smokey and Blaze did not win their heats. An other trial will be held at Princeton on July 4 and 5.
In New Carlisle Indiana supporters circulate a petition and raise funds for legal help for Jerome Tex Ryan a 36 year old farmer charged with shooting and killing two Independence Kansas men in 1934. He was arrested June 19 after a detective spotted a photo in a magazine. His wife Isabel 32 plans to visit him in Ind.
Ronald Poe of Shelbyville has accepted a position as assistant manager of the Linton G. C. Murphy company with Ford Logan as manager. Poe has been with the Murphy company in Shelbyville for two and a half years and began his duties today.
A marriage license was issued by the Sullivan county clerk at Sullivan to Jane Wraley of Shelburn and Marion Chester field of Jasonville.
John Davidson 8th of Lyons died at 7 pm Sunday at St Edward hospital New Albany after a stroke. A longtime funeral director he retired three years ago selling his Lyons undertaking business to Jenkins and Sons. He was active in Lyons community affairs and lodges. Survived by five daughters, two sons preceded him. Funeral at Lyons Methodist church Tuesday at 2:30 with Rev. Russell Taylor. Burial Prairie Chapel cemetery.

Joseph McClelland Baker age 29 and Maud Lorene Baker age 34 of Hymera died from burns after their truck overturned on state road 48 two miles east of Hymera. Mrs Baker was pinned beneath the vehicle and burned. Mr Baker died later at Mary Sherman hospital. Coroner ruled accidental death. They operated Hymera Telephone Co. and were married in April 1947. Funeral services set for Tuesday at Sandborn with burial in Bloomfield Grandview cemetery.
Funeral services were held for Rosa L Sparks at the Tulip Church of God with Rev Charles Sims presiding. She died at her home near Bloomfield after a period of ill health and is survived by six sons, a sister, and a brother. Burial followed in Tulip cemetery.

Linton police hunt a piggy bank thief after Mrs Lula Colley and her grandson Mikey Ellis found their home entered. The stolen bank held about $4.50. Mikey is the son of Thelma Ellis of Linton.
A severe thunderstorm with high winds struck Saturday afternoon, damaging the Linton Municipal electric plant distributing system. City workers labored past midnight to restore lines. The Bolton orchard rain gauge recorded 1.16 inches of rain. Winds were strong in surrounding areas.
The Linton Eagles lost 11-0 to Staunton Sunday at the local diamond. Lynch started, Lefty Laughlin relieved in the eighth. Staunton batters Jones and Jones drove in runs. Eagles stand eight wins and four losses. next game vs Vincennes Legion is set for a tie night.
